It may seem odd to grieve an addiction, especially when it is so easy to get it back. However, as a parts therapist, it is believed that there are no bad parts and each of them play an important role in our internal family system. Letting Go: Grieving the Loss of Addiction, a therapy group that utilizes the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model to explore the complex emotions surrounding the end of addiction. This group is designed for individuals who are navigating the grief associated with letting go of their addiction, offering a safe and supportive space to process these feelings.
In our intimate setting, you will connect with others who share similar experiences, fostering a sense of community and understanding. The IFS model encourages participants to identify and engage with the various parts of themselves that emerge during this transition. Together, we will explore the emotions tied to the loss of addiction, including grief, fear, and relief, while recognizing the protective roles that these parts have played in your life.
Through guided discussions and therapeutic exercises, we will help you to cultivate self-compassion and acceptance for the parts of you that are grieving the loss of addiction. You will learn to create a dialogue with these parts, allowing for deeper understanding and healing. By acknowledging and honoring the complexity of your emotions, you can begin to integrate these experiences into your journey toward recovery.
As we explore these parts and learn through others, we will create a warm and inviting atmosphere where vulnerability is embraced. Together, we will explore the potential for growth and renewal that comes from letting go, helping you to envision a life beyond addiction while nurturing the parts of you that are still healing. We will navigate this transformative journey, finding hope, connection, and a deeper understanding of ourselves as we let go and move forward.
